Who this covers

This policy applies to Meridiem Now (our iPhone and iPad app), Meridiem One (our wall display), the Transit Board desktop and web apps, and this website. Meridiem is an independent developer based in San Francisco, California.

What the apps collect

Nothing that identifies you. We do not have accounts, we do not have logins, and we have no way to tell one person's board from another's.

Location

If you grant location access, the app uses your coordinates entirely on your device to work out which transit stops are nearest you. The list of stops is bundled inside the app, so the lookup happens locally. Your coordinates are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and they are never stored anywhere but on your device.

Location access is optional. You can decline it and place the board manually by tapping a point on the map, or by searching for a stop by name.

Your 511 data token

If you supply your own free 511 SF Bay token, it is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and is sent only to 511's own servers when fetching arrivals. We never receive it.

Your settings

Which stops you've favourited, where you've placed your board, and your display preferences are stored on your device and, on Apple platforms, shared with the widget through a private app group. They do not leave the device.

What our servers see

To spare you having to get your own data token, the app can fetch arrivals through api.meridiemtransit.com, a small proxy we run. When it does, that proxy receives a transit stop code and nothing else — no name, no account, no device identifier, no coordinates.

Responses are cached at the network edge and shared across everyone asking about the same stop. We do not keep request logs, we do not build a history of which stops you look at, and there is no database behind the proxy to write one to. If you prefer not to use it at all, enter your own 511 token in Settings and the app will talk to 511 directly.

Purchases

Meridiem Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the entire transaction. We never see your name, your payment method, or your billing address — only an anonymous receipt telling the app whether the purchase is active. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

What we deliberately do not do

• No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No tracking across apps or websites, and no data sold or shared with data brokers.
• No third-party SDKs of any kind in the iOS app.
• Meridiem One has no microphone and no camera. It cannot listen or watch, because the hardware to do so isn't in it.

This website

If you fill in the pre-order or business enquiry form, we store what you typed — your email address, and optionally your name, company, and message — so that we can reply to you. That's it. We use it to answer you and to tell you when the product ships. We don't sell it, rent it, or pass it to advertisers.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf and may retain standard server logs for security and abuse prevention. We set no tracking cookies and run no analytics scripts.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because the apps hold your data on your own device, you can erase all of it by deleting the app. For anything you've sent us through a form on this website, email us and we will tell you what we hold and delete it on request. If you're in California, the EU, or the UK, this covers your rights of access, deletion, and correction under the CCPA and the GDPR — we are happy to honour them, and there is very little for us to hand over.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the app's release notes.
